In 2000 Derek O'Brien brought his experience as a drummer/songwriter/producer working with the likes of Social Distortion, Agent Orange, D.I., Extra Fancy, The Adolescents and many others along with an Audio Engineering degree from UCLA to found D.O'B. Sound Recording Studios. An instant success cranking out recording after recording, D.O'B. Sound provided a comfortable, clean & relaxed (musician friendly) environment for Music Production, Recording, Mixing & Mastering.
Then in 2008, Derek partnered up with Larry Ramirez (producer/songwriter/guitarist for "Second Chance" and founder of Loaded Bomb Records) to take over the historical "True One and Basement Studios" 3000 square foot facility located in Santa Fe Springs, CA (equidistant to Hollywood, Orange County and Long Beach) to merge their experience and add rehearsal rooms and guitar repair to the operation.
In addition to Producing Engineering and Mastering, Derek continues to drum with Punk Rock Karaoke and others. Larry Produces and Engineers at the new studio and continues to write & play guitar with Second Chance, The Lonesome Ones and others.
The Recording Studio section was immediately gutted and re-built with the best possible drum sounds and listening environment in mind. The D.O'B. Sound vintage (modified) Trident console, Neve pre amps, new & vintage outboard equipment, Pro Tools HD2 Accel system 8.0.3 / Waves Platinum / many other pluggins running through High Def. Apogee converters, high end microphones and instruments all brought in and immediately put to good use - see EQUIPMENT. The Rehearsal Rooms were also upgraded with equipment, acoustic treatments and lighting.
